Ola Headlines Newsletter: June 2020

Ola Headline logo

Welcome to June’s edition of  the Ola Headlines newsletter, full of updates for our drivers.

As summer season starts and society begins to reopen, safer driving and higher hygiene standards have been asked of us all. We want to thank you for working with Ola to offer this in every journey.

Government updates

Self-employment Support Scheme extended

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has extended the cover of the government’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme until August 2020.

The extension to the scheme covers 70% of your average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering a further 3 months’ worth of profits, and capped at £6,570 in total.

You can claim for the second and final grant even if you did not make a claim for the first grant. Find out if you’re eligible for the grant, by visiting the government website.

Commission and Incentives

Changes to London commission and rewards

For London drivers, we’ve frozen commission at 15%. Remember to regularly check your Rewards tab for weekly incentive schemes.

For the rest of the UK, we’ve introduced completion based rewards. Check your Rewards tab for weekly incentive schemes.

New safety policy: Five layers of safety to protect drivers and riders on every trip

As part of our new #SafetyDoneRight pledge to offer protection from Coronavirus, your working routine will change in the coming weeks. Don’t worry, they’ll only be minor changes!

Rider Consent Form

Riders are being asked to confirm they have read and agreed to a Rider Consent Form. The form recaps our expectations of riders during the journey for our drivers’ safety.

This includes riders wearing face coverings in accordance with new government guidance for public transport.

Driving 101 Blog

What’s new on the Driving 101 Blog for Ola Drivers?

We’ve got plenty on the blog to read this month, with a spotlight still on driver protection and Covid-19 related posts such as How To Protect Yourself When Buying Petrol.

We know that during lockdown, many of us have given into the same eating habits we have during Christmas. After all, once you’ve done all your hobbies, all the gardening, and every single piece of laundry you need to what else is there to do? Eat of course!

Our new blog, How To Keep Fit While Working As A Driver, aims to combat just that. Find a new way to keep busy and watch the weight slide off as you drive!

Ola in the community

Celebrating goodwill and generosity

Our local Ola teams across the UK, particularly London and the West Midlands, have been volunteering to help deliver food packages and support parcels as demand has reduced.

They also helped in the birth of prematurely born, 27 week old identical triplets! Read more about their brilliant charitable efforts in the Local Ola teams support charities through lockdown blog.
